Autopilot: Trigger - Typeform Submitted

This trigger adds a contact to a Journey when they submit a Typeform.

For other forms please use the Form Submitted trigger.

How to connect

Before you get started, you need to connect to Typeform in Settings:

Click "Connect to Typeform" and follow the login steps on Typeform's website.

How to setup a form

Drop the trigger and click "Setup New Typeform":

Select a form:

Map your form fields to the corresponding fields in Autopilot. Please ensure you map the email field as it is required to create a contact in Autopilot. We'll do our best to automatically map your fields, however sometimes you’ll need to search and find a more appropriate field. If you can't, you can add a new custom field:

How to start a Journey using your form

Now that your form is setup, you can use it in a Journey:

We recommend connecting the following actions to your trigger:

  • Add to List action, so you can easily access all contacts that have submitted the form (note that you can also do this using a smart segment, see below).
  • Send Notification action, to alert your team via email or Slack when a new submission is received.
  • Send Email action, to send a confirmation email to the contact. Note that by default a contact can only receive an email once. Learn how to override this default for emails of this nature (i.e. transactional emails) here.

Please note that Typeform submissions will only be captured for forms selected on a trigger in a published Journey.

How to create a smart segment based on Typeform submissions

Follow the steps below to create a smart segment based on whether a contact has submitted, or not submitted, a particular Typeform:

FAQ

Can I capture hidden fields?

Yes. For example, let’s say you had a hidden "source" field in on a Typeform:

It will show up alongside your regular fields when setting up the form:

Please note that if you change the name of a hidden field in Typeform, you need to edit the form in Autopilot and update the field mapping.

Do I need a paid "Pro" Typeform account to use this trigger?

No. It can be used with a free "Basic" Typeform account.

When someone submits a form do they become a "known" visitor?

No, not currently. At this time Typeform does not allow external scripts, such as our tracking code, to be added to their forms.

For this reason, we highly recommend sending a follow up email to contacts after they submit a form that includes a link. When contacts click that link, they will become a "known" visitor. You will then be able to track their visits to any web page with the tracking code.

Can I capture "calculator variables", such as price?

No, not currently. If you would like to voice your support for this feature, please do so here.
